Storm window types
There are three main categories of storm windows:
Exterior storm windows are mounted on the outside of your home right over the existing window openings.
Interior storm windows are generally cheaper than exterior storm windows and are made up of a glass or acrylic panel installed on the inside of your existing windows.
Temporary storm windows are a step up from the window shrink film insulating kits you install with a hair dryer. They’re a single plexiglass panel usually with a magnetic seal to hold it in place inside your existing windows.
There are also removable/operable exterior storm window panels available, which allow easy access to the existing windows for cleaning or ventilation.
